How to Find Your Sub-Zero Model & Serial Number (Data Tag Location)
If you’re ordering genuine OEM Sub-Zero parts, troubleshooting an error code, or requesting service, you’ll almost always need the model number and serial number. Sub-Zero uses a rating plate / data tag (usually a silver sticker about the size of a business card). Depending on the series, it can be behind drawers, near the upper hinge area, or inside the cabinet.
What the Sub-Zero model/serial tag looks like
Here are real examples of the data tag you’re looking for:

Quick tip before you start
- Write down the full model (including letters) and the serial number.
- If your unit has drawers, you may need to pull a drawer out to see the tag.
- Use a flashlight and take a photo—Sub-Zero tags can be easy to miss.
Sub-Zero full-size refrigeration (Classic, 600, 500, 200/300)
On many full-size Sub-Zero refrigerators and freezers, the tag is located inside a door near the top hinge area. The exact door depends on the configuration.
Combination models (Over/Under, Side-by-Side, French Door)
- Over/Under models: Inside the refrigerator door near the top door hinge.
- Side-by-Side models: Inside the freezer door near the top door hinge.
- Classic French Door (BI / CL): Inside the left-hand door near the top door hinge.
All Refrigerator & All Freezer models
- All Refrigerator / All Freezer: Inside the door near the top door hinge.
Designer Column (IC) and Designer Column (DEC)
For many Designer Column Sub-Zero units, the rating plate is not on the door—look inside the cabinet area near the drawers.
- IC / Designer Column: Inside the middle drawer area, near the drawer guide on the side opposite the hinge.
- DEC (4-drawer models): The rating plate is commonly found behind the middle two drawers near the drawer guide opposite the hinge.
Designer Tall (IT / DET), Designer Drawer (ID), and some 700 Series
These models frequently place the data tag inside the cabinet near the top drawer area.
- IT / DET / ID / many 700 Series: Inside the cabinet to the left of the upper drawer.
Undercounter pull-out drawer models
UNDERCOUNTER PULL OUT DRAWER MODELS: Look inside the upper drawer cabinet to the left.
Professional (PRO) Series
Professional series units usually place the tag inside the cabinet near freezer drawers.
- PRO3650: Inside the cabinet to the left of the freezer drawer.
- PRO4850 / 648PRO: Inside the cabinet to the left of the upper freezer drawer.

Why the model + serial matters (real-world)
Sub-Zero has model-specific variations across production runs. The model/serial tells us the correct platform and revision, which helps match door gaskets, thermistors, fans, control boards, ice maker parts, and other OEM components to the right version.
